Telemental Health in Philadelphia: Attune transitions to telehealth therapy model during COVID-19

In these surreal and risky times of COVID-19, Attune Philadelphia Therapy Group will remain open – just not in the same way.  On March 16th, 2020, we transitioned our entire practice to video telehealth therapy sessions (also known as telemental health).  How do we offer telemental health in Philadelphia, the surrounding suburbs, and beyond?  These Philadelphia telehealth therapy sessions are conducted via the video conferencing application Google Hangouts Meet (GHM).  GHM is a HIPAA-compliant video app.  What does this mean for you?  It means that your online therapy sessions with our Philadelphia licensed psychologists are fully secure and private.

In our first week offering telehealth therapy, we have had positive feedback from our clients about the experience.  Most have stated that the core aspects of in-person therapy are still present.  Even though we are no longer in the same room, ‘face-to-face’ therapy is still alive and vibrant.   As our practice name of Attune implies, we still pay careful attention to what our clients are telling and showing us.  Additionally, many clients enjoy the convenience of being able to video conference from home, and the added scheduling flexibility that this offers.

When will office visits resume?

At this point in time it is difficult to anticipate a ‘doors open’ date for our two office locations (e.g. when we will resume in-person sessions).  We expect that this will occur around the same time as schools and businesses re-open.  In the meantime, we are excited about taking this innovative step with old and new clients.  We look forward to offering telemental health in Philadelphia during this time of psychological need for our community and country.
