Anxiety Therapy
Anxiety takes so many different shapes and forms. Maybe you have repetitive, generalized worries, part of an overactive mind that is hard to slow down. Perhaps you have a specific fear or phobia that leaves you feeling paralyzed and unable to live life to the fullest. You might experience social anxiety that is specifically related to being around and interacting with other people. Many anxiety issues also are present with psychosomatic symptoms. Fortunately, there are a number of therapeutic approaches that have proven to be efficient in treating anxiety.

Psychosomatic Disorders and Health Psychology
Psychosomatic disorders are a broad umbrella term to describe physical/physiological conditions that have a psychological aspect to them. Often psychosomatic disorders are a bodily-manifestation of anxiety and/or stress. Related bodily sensations could include heart racing, chest tightness, difficulty breathing, vasovagal responses such as fainting, headaches, insomnia, gastrointestinal distress, and more. Many people experience these symptoms in the form of panic attacks, which can lead to subsequent anticipatory anxiety and avoidant behavior patterns that can become disabling.
Our staff specializes in treating many of the specific manifestations of psychosomatic disorders.

Depression Treatment
Do you feel unusually sad? Perhaps this sadness has a context around it, a reason for feeling blue or depressed. It’s also possible that you might feel depressed for no discernible reason. Regardless of your reason for feeling depressed, being able to make sense of and cope with these difficult feelings is an important part of therapy.

Trauma Therapy
What trauma have you experienced? Trauma can be physical, sexual, emotional, spiritual, and all of the above. Traumatic stress can stem from a single incident – such as a natural disaster, accident, murder, or terrorism. Complex relational trauma, also known as attachment trauma, is sadly quite common and can be devastating in the impact it has on personality formation, structural development, and relational trust and intimacy.
Therapy for trauma is thoughtful, boundary-focused, and can often be long-term work that is phase-oriented. We find out how to treat the person, not just the trauma.

Attention-Deficit Therapy
Attention-Deficit (e.g. ADD, ADHD) has numerous aspects to it. There are the primary factors, such as difficulties with concentration, focus, and executive functioning – and the immediate impacts this has on academic and career progression. However, there are also pertinent secondary factors, such as the cumulative effects that dealing with attention-deficit has on self-esteem, self-image, and relationships. Our therapy is versatile and attempts to address all of these factors.

Gaming Disorder: Technology & Gaming Addiction
Does the time you spend using your computer, cell phone, or playing video games negatively affect your ability to live a fuller, happier, and more productive life? Addiction to electronic devices has emerged as a significantly more common and detrimental issue in both children and adults, so we treat this addiction seriously and with respect. As psychologists, we understand that elements of shame, confusion, or depression may have contributed to your decision to seek therapy, so we do our best to engage you in a conversation that is neither judgmental nor dismissive of the reason you are here.
Our principle goal is to provide you with a safe place where you can reflect on your addiction while working to achieve a level of use that is most comfortable and healthy for you.
